PGA TOUR in Mourning: Grayson Murray Passes Away at 30

The PGA TOUR is reeling from the sudden loss of two-time champion Grayson Murray, who passed away Saturday at the age of 30. Murray, a rising star known for his talent and sportsmanship, died just one day after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Challenge due to an undisclosed illness.

"We were devastated to learn – and are heartbroken to share – that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning," said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan in a statement. "The PGA TOUR is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones."

Murray's career was on an upward trajectory. He secured his second PGA TOUR victory earlier this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii, adding to his first win at the 2017 Barbasol Championship. Murray's talent was evident from his college days, where he played for three prestigious universities before turning professional.

The cause of death remains unknown at this time. Following Murray's withdrawal from the Charles Schwab Challenge, there were no indications of the severity of his illness. PGA TOUR officials have indicated they will share more information when it becomes available.

In the wake of this tragedy, grief counselors are on hand at both the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour events this week. Commissioner Monahan also revealed that Murray's family requested the tournament continue, believing that's what Grayson would have wanted.

The PGA TOUR has lost a bright light. Grayson Murray's talent and passion for the game will be deeply missed.
